THE GLOBAL PANDEMIC has for everyone been a trying phase. For some, cycling has proven to be a solace. If not confined in isolation, you could at least isolate yourself on your bike for two hours and enjoy a sense of freedom. During this freedom many of us take pictures of the places we ride.
ERIN ARCHAMBAULT has been a cyclist for years. Her love for cycling and bikes translates not only to her riding but also to beautiful cycling art created in watercolors based upon original photographs taken by riders from around the world.
FIELD NOTES asked Erin how her interest in painting cycling pictures came to be.
Hello, I'm Erin! I've been a cyclist for years now, originally for a mode of transportation that quickly morphed into long hours on the bike, clearing my head, or with friends having fun Bike-Packing and Adventuring.
Between the pandemic, and getting in a bike accident which put me out for a while, I decided to start water-coloring as a way to kill time.
I chose bikes as a theme for the paintings because so many people take great pictures of their rides and I kinda just love asking random people if I can paint their photos.
