Our new GripGrab Original Stripes Crew Socks have been extremely well received and have now been spotted on riders in all different settings and disciplines.
First up: meet courier Allan Shaw and follow him around Copenhagen on a working day.
Next: get in the mood for some after-work gravel grinding on the outskirts of the Danish capital, as the GripGrab chiefs along with GripGrab friends (usually referred to as Gripsters) participate in a local gravel race.
ALLAN SHAW
Courier at BY-EXPRESSEN, operating in Copenhagen, Denmark.
"Most couriers at By-Expressen can expect to cover between 80-100km a day around the city. Most people working full-time work four days a week, covering 320-400km per week around Copenhagen. I had been traveling around and working as a messenger across North America and Australia for five years. Working on temporary visas, tourist visas, and occasionally no visas. In 2016 when the Brexit vote happened it was a big shock for me, and I realized suddenly that if I didn’t want to be forced back to Scotland I had to come back to Europe and find a place to call home.
That summer I bike toured around Europe introducing myself to as many different courier companies as I could. Then in the autumn, while spending a few months working in New York City, I met some Copenhagen couriers at a cycling event and spent days getting drunk and having a great time. They convinced me if there was EVER a place to come ride a bike it was Copenhagen, and if there was EVER a company that I should want to work for it was By-Expressen.
I took their advice and I’m still forever grateful they convinced me.
GRAVEL CRITERIUM
Martin and Kristian (GripGrab CEO and CPO respectively) took part in an after-work gravel race, together with some of our Gripster friends.
In the late afternoon glow, they darted in and out of the shadows in an old quarry near Roskilde, Denmark.
